Pure Eden Activated Charcoal Powder
Pure Eden’s “Food Grade” Activated Charcoal powder is 100% natural.
It is made from coconut shells, contains no fillers or binders, and so is therefore twice as “adsorbent” as tablets.
It can be taken internally by mixing it with water, added to your favourite dishes and drinks or used externally in the form of a poultice or in many DIY beauty remedies.

- Mix a teaspoon of activated charcoal in a glass of water
- Stir well
- Strain the liquid through a piece of cloth to remove the charcoal sediment and discard.
- Drink the charcoal water followed by another glass of water
Activated Charcoal Poultices
Pure Eden Activated Charcoal powder can be made into a charcoal poultice, which can be then applied to various parts of the body, especially to treat infected areas like infections and bites.
The powder is mixed with either water or oil. We recommend linseed, coconut or olive oil to make a poultice for external use.
- Mix 1 to 2 tablespoons of Pure Eden Activated Charcoal powder with a little water or oil to form a thick paste. It should be moist but not too crumbly or drippy.
- Spread the paste on half of a paper towel, loosely woven cloth, or piece of gauze cut to fit the area treated. When ready the cloth should be moist, and thoroughly saturated with the paste.
- Then cover the paste by folding over the other half of the paper towel or cloth.
- Place the cloth on the infected area making sure it completely covers the area.
- Cover the poultice with plastic (when available, plastic food wrap works well).
- Cut to overlap the poultice by an inch on every side. This will prevent it from drying out. If the charcoal dries out it will not be able to adsorb.
- Finish off by bandaging or taping the poultice securely in place.
- Leave it on for several hours, or better yet, overnight.
- Poultices can be left for up to 8 hours but once removed, please dispose of the cloth.
- Use a fresh cloth if you need to re apply.
Note: Poultices of any kind only work if there is continuous moist contact with the skin

How to Make a Charcoal Paste to Relieve Bites and Stings
⦁ Mix a teaspoon of Pure Eden Activated Charcoal with some coconut oil.

How to Make an Activated Charcoal Insect Balm
Whether you have been bitten by a spider or mosquito or stung by a wasp, the affected area can quickly become itching and irritated, and sometimes the painful area, just keeps hanging around.
- 1 x tablespoon shea butter
- 5 – 7 drops of organic lavender essential oil
- 1 x teaspoon Pure Eden Activated Charcoal
- 1 x teaspoon aloe vera gel
- In a double boiler melt down coconut oil and Shea butter. Once fully melted, remove from heat.
- Add aloe vera gel, lavender essential oil, and Pure Eden Activated Charcoal powder— mix well.
- Carefully spoon the liquid into your containers. Allow to rest for 2-3 hours.
For Pets
Activated charcoal has many uses for your pets. It can be used both internally and externally.
